DCMS Board of Directors

The Duval County Medical Society Board of Directors is made up of physicians who are dedicated to carrying out the mission of the DCMS: to help physicians care for the health of our community.

The Board of Directors is the governing body of the Society and is responsible for all committees. Duties include approving an annual operating budget for the Society.


introducing our 2017 officers:


Tra’Chella Johnson-Foy was born and raised in Jacksonville and received her undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Florida. She went on to earn her Medical Degree from Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta Georgia. Due to her strong interest in HIV medicine she was chosen as an Arthur Ashe AIDS Care Fellow by the Harvard AIDS Institute. Ultimately she returned to Jacksonville to complete her residency training in family medicine at the Mayo Clinic. She has been a volunteer with We Care Jacksonville since 2001 and currently serves as the Medical Director. Dr. Johnson-Foy is now a practicing board certified family physician with Baptist Primary Care.

Ruple Galani was born in Toledo, Ohio and attended undergraduate school at Northwestern University. He attended medical school at Medical College of Ohio in Toledo, Ohio. Dr. Galani completed his internship and residency at University of Florida, Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida where he served as Chief Resident for Internal Medicine. He also completed a fellowship in cardiology at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. Currently, Dr. Galani is an invasive non-interventional cardiologist at Baptist Heart Specialists. Dr. Galani is married to Gina Galani and has three children, Ava, Alexis and Asher.

Stephen Mandia received his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine, Washington, DC. He completed his internship in general surgery at Saint Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport, CT. Dr. Mandia then had an illustrious career in the U.S. Navy rising to the rank of Captain. While in the Navy, he completed his urology residency at Naval Medical Center San Diego, CA, and received a Master of Science in Administration, Healthcare Administration from Central Michigan University. After 24 years in the Navy, Dr. Mandia joined the staff at UF Health Jacksonville as a board certified urologist. His interest is in stone disease and general urology.  In addition, he completed a Masters in Homeland Security – Public Health Preparedness from the Penn State University, Hershey College of Medicine. Dr. Mandia is a Medical Reserve Corps volunteer and is chairman of the DCMS Public Health Committee.

Patrick DeMarco was born and raised in Scranton, Pennsylvania and attended the University of Scranton. He received his MD from the Medical College of Pennsylvania/Hahnemann University. Dr. DeMarco completed his internship and residency training in internal medicine at the University of South Florida. Following this, he remained in Tampa to complete his allergy fellowship at USF and pediatric allergy/immunology training at All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, FL. Dr. DeMarco is board certified in both internal medicine and allergy & immunology.  He also received his Masters of Business Administration degree from the University of Massachusetts Isenberg School of Management. He is a past president of the Florida Allergy, Asthma & Immunology Society. Dr. DeMarco is a practicing allergist and Vice-President of Allergy & Asthma Specialists of North Florida.

James St. George attended the University of Chicago and the University of Massachusetts for his undergraduate and medical degrees, respectively. His internship and residency training was completed at Yale-New Haven, University of Pennsylvania and Albany Medical Schools. Dr. St. George completed his fellowship training in interventional radiology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He was academic faculty at Harvard, Dartmouth, and Drexel Schools of Medicine. Dr. St. George relocated to Florida in 2003 and is in solo practice as an interventional radiologist at St Johns Vein and Vascular Center. He is an Associate Editor of the Northeast Florida Medicine journal and a delegate to the Florida Medical Association. He also serves on the Executive Board of the North Florida Council, Boy Scouts of America.

Sunil Joshi was born and raised in Jacksonville and attended the University of Florida for his undergraduate and medical doctorate degrees. He trained in internal medicine at the Mayo Clinic and received fellowship training at the University of Rochester Medical Center in allergy/immunology. He returned to Jacksonville to practice with Family Allergy Asthma Consultants in 2004 and has since been heavily involved in the DCMS. He served as the Editor-in-Chief for the Northeast Florida Medicine journal in 2015. He is a Past President of the University of Florida College of Medicine Alumni Association and a Past President of the Florida Allergy Asthma Immunology Society.
