DCMS LEADERSHIP ACADEMY

the dcms leadership academy is designed to help develop leaders within our medical community.  this curriculum-based program is in association with the university of north florida.

        

DCMS has a long history of physician leadership, from the Florida Medical Association to the World Medical Association, from pioneering private practices to hospital executives. We are committed to ensuring that the next generation of physician leaders also has a strong Duval County representation.

The DCMS Leadership Academy is a program designed to give physicians the leadership skills necessary to be more effective employers, Board members and community leaders.

The Academy is open to all physicians, but DCMS Members receive a substantial discount.

About Our Speakers

 

Michael Clark: 

Michael Clark is a UNF Continuing Education Instructor with an extensive background in the areas of management, supervisor development, quality improvement efforts and facilitation of strategic planning sessions and executive retreats. He worked as a training and performance improvement director for various state of Florida government agencies for many years and has been the owner/president of MRC Consulting for 13 years. He has designed numerous training programs, including online, using the Instructional Systems Design methodology, and has provided over 1000 seminars, workshops and presentations covering a diverse set of topics with a focus toward developing leadership skills for managers and supervisors.

Tim Stapleton:

Timothy J. Stapleton has served as the Chief Executive Officer of the Florida Medical Association since 2008. Prior to his appointment as CEO, Mr. Stapleton served as Vice President of Public Affairs and Executive Director of the FMA’s Political Action Committee.  He has been with the FMA for 18 years. Before joining the FMA staff in 1998, Mr. Stapleton served as a staff member of the American Medical Association in Chicago and the Medical Society of the State of New York.  Mr. Stapleton also served as the Legislative Liaison for the Office of the Illinois Attorney General and served on the staff of two statewide political campaigns in Illinois. Mr. Stapleton is a graduate of Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. 

 

 Bryan Campbell:  

Bryan Campbell has been the Chief Executive Officer of the Duval County Medical Society since February, 2012, but has been working in organized medicine for more than 10 years. He is a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Omaha. Mr. Campbell moved to Florida in 2002 to work at First Coast News, where he was an Executive Producer until 2006. After nearly 14 years in broadcast television, he transitioned to organized medicine, becoming the Director of Public, Media and Industry Relations for the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists. He worked at AACE until joining the DCMS.

Mr. Campbell believes organized medicine is a critical part of American society, providing a unified voice for physicians and providing valuable resources to physicians and their practices. He believes that in spite of, or maybe even because of, the rapid changes to the healthcare system, organized medicine is more important now than ever.
